Le Magnifique IdentityIdentity and Print
The Mario Lemieux statue "Le Magnifique" was unveiled on Wednesday March 7 at the Consol Energy Center. As the Art Director of the statue I was tasked with creating an identity for the unveiling and ceremony.

Le Magnifique StatueArt DirectionLe Magnifique is a symbol of strength and beauty that honors the lifetime achievements of the Pittsburgh Penguins legend Mario Lemieux.  This monumental achievement is the result of thousands of hours of work by a team of passionate artists and craftsmen.
I worked as the Art Director from conception to completion under Master Sculptor Bruce Wolfe. In creating such an icon of the sport my role was to ensure the authenticity of the piece through composition and equipment.

Since the hockey community in Pittsburgh is so immersed in the career of Mario it was important to make sure that every detail was exhaustively scrutinized before being crafted.

In front of nearly 6,000 people Mario and the world had its first look at the new statue in front of the Consol Energy Center.

The statue is 10 1/4-foot tall that depicts Lemieux splitting through two defensemen to score a breakaway goal in a Dec. 20, 1988 game against the Islanders.

Dinosaurs UnearthedPrint, Interactive
	Dinosaurs Unearthed is an exciting new exhibit at the Lawrence Hall of Science. The larger than life animatronic  dinosaurs take the visitor back in time to when dinos ruled the earth. The advertisements were aimed at enticing those first encounters with these beasts up close and personal.

Roadside HeritageInteractive
	The Roadside Heritage Project wanted a website that would allow visitors to experience the wonderfully diverse region along California Highway 395 through interactive maps and audio stories.

As the lead designer of this project, I wanted to create an experience that really put the user in the environment. Using textures and vibrant photos from the area allows the user to become engaged with the environment. There is also an interactive map that allows the user to explore the audio stories.

Millstream Brewing CompanyBranding &#38; Print
Millstream Brewing Company is Iowa's oldest microbrewery, who was looking to update their look. I wanted to design a more cohesive identity for the Millstream Brewing Company brand by creating a logo that kept the brand integrity while updating the overall visual appeal. It was also part of the concept to create a series of labels and products that would help to illustrate strong brand awareness and design.

Assorted LogosLogos &#38; Identities
I often work with clients to help strategically build their brand or sometimes to just update their existing identity. Sometimes my clients have a strong foundation and just need small tweaks, whatever the case I work closely with them to design marks that are both functional and visually pleasing.
These are a set of logos and identities I have worked on over the past few years. Since my belief is that a logo is only as good as the application I have decided to show you only the grayscale versions.

Pete Ambrose is an award winning photographer based in LA who needed help controlling his growing business and a better way to showcase his work through a new identity and website. Pete's photography covers a large range of clients from fine art and music to the Obama campaign.
Pete has a unique point of view and wanted the audience to experience that view through his work. He wanted his work to be the main focus, but the detail in his work made it particularly difficult to showcase. He wanted his work to create a lasting visual impression on the viewer.

Eye Q FilmsBranding, Print, Interactive
Eye Q Films is a small production studio. They create short films and commercials in the Bay Area and needed to expand their current client base and compete with larger production studios.
Eye Q Films produces and creates highly professional material, but has never had a matching identity. They have a quirky style and didn't want to lose that in their new look. They also didn't want to feel like a large production studio, but wanted the ability to compete with them and showcase their work.

I wanted to make them more identifiable, so creating a symbol within the mark helped to brand their merchandise and products.

The Lawrence 
Hall of ScienceBranding, Print, Interactive
The Lawrence Hall of Science is a hands-on public science center that also creates and develops curriculum. The Hall provides professional development for over 20,000 teachers nationally, while creating curriculum for more than 25% of the nation's kids during their K-12 experience. The Hall has never had a comprehensive identity system, and with the university-wide budget cuts, needed to develop a way to reconnect with its members and supporters.

The new logo for The Hall was developed to capture the great range of ideas, values, ideals, programs, people and activities that the Hall encompasses. The rollout consisted of the brand identity, new website, photography, signage and various membership and business collateral.

Working with a small group of project managers, designers and developers, we were able to create a new information architecture and UI that better fit our brand. Due to the various groups within the organization, it was best to build in Drupal so that each group had the ability to update their own sections, helping to keep the site current.
