Hey, I'm Chris!
I'm an Art Director & Designer that lives in Oakland, California and loves branding and product design.
A Little story about me
I’ve always loved art and design – I started pushing pixels when I was 13, making pictures on my mom’s work computer in Microsoft Paint, and crushed my high school art program curriculum back in Ohio (the murals I designed and painted are still there today!).
Even though design was in my blood from the beginning, when I was younger I just wanted to play hockey. I played at the highest levels all over the country, but in college when I realized that being short and stocky wasn't going to get me to the NHL, I put all that determination and drive into building a career in something else I loved.
While in school I found a passion for branding and product design. It was the perfect place to merge brand values, storytelling and intuitive design. Building brand stories through products always just made sense to me.
As a Design Director, I've had the opportunity to work with talented developers and designers for clients such as NASA, Google, US Air Force, TripIt, Concur, and the University of California-Berkeley. I've helped launch exciting projects ranging from an interactive science exhibit with Tony Hawk to a 12 ft bronze statue of one of my childhood heroes, Mario Lemieux, that sits outside the PPG Paint Arena in Pittsburgh.
Oakland is now my home, where I live with my wife, Ida, Mugsy the Pug, and our cat, Bebe. When I’m not behind the screen, you can usually find me on the ice, coaching hockey, or grabbing my Fuji and setting out to capture our next great adventure.
